A limited edition work of art that pays tribute to the legacy of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment.

In response to President Lincoln's call for additional soldiers, the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment became one of the first all-black military units to serve in support of the Union during America's Civil War. This regiment was formed by recruiting free African Americans primarily from Northern states.

The regiment earned a reputation for its fearlessness and commitment, playing an instrumental role in securing multiple crucial triumphs for the Union. The unit's success opened doors to African Americans becoming part of the U.S. military.

On July 18th, 1863, the 54th Massachusetts faced their most memorable battle at Fort Wagner in Charleston, South Carolina. This attack proved to be a brutal and bloody conflict that resulted in more than 272 casualties from fatalities, injuries, or capture.

In spite of the odds stacked against them, the regiment fought courageously and showed extraordinary bravery in the face of heavy enemy fire. Though ultimately compelled to retreat, the 54th Massachusetts made an everlasting impression on Confederate soldiers through their unwavering courage, tenacity, and determination.
