The problem is there are potential tripping hazards that you can’t see clearly and cars may not see you in the dark. Basically, it can be dangerous for you and the dog. Hi, my name is Sonia, and that’s why I created the Lightwalker belt with light in 2010. After twisting my ankle walking my 4 dogs one night, I knew I needed hands free lighting. I was sure that a belt light was the best option to keep my hands free for the dogs. It would be comfortable, simple to wear and keep us safer to avoid tripping again or getting hit by a car. After an extensive online search, shockingly, what I needed did not exist. A few days later, I created the first prototype. When runners started buying it, they requested that I also make the belt reflective to add visibility when car lights approach. So I followed that suggestion and have gone through many changes over the years. I changed the lamp several times as new technology was developed and improved.
